PROVOPHENIA 9: THE HILLS HAVE Y's

Friday, September 23rd
2:00 p.m.

Show and Shine at Crest Gas Station 700 E. 800 N. Provo. There are several places to grab a bite nearby before we leave for an afternoon ride up Provo Canyon. We will leave sometime between 3 and 4 for the ride. We will go up to Cascade Springs, then back down to Nunns park for a campfire and BBQ. Those who wish to camp overnight are welcome to do so. Everybody will have fun unless we get eaten by a creepy tribe of cannibals.

Saturday, September 24th
10:00 a.m.

Meet at Crest once again and be prepared for an all day 100+ mile ride. We will ride over hills, through canyons and along the shore of Utah Lake. Please be prepared with snacks and drinks for the road. We will be stopping along the way to refuel, rest and have lunch. Bring your swimming gear for when we stop at Burraston Ponds in Mona. We'll finish the ride in Springville at The Trolley for dinner.

Here is a link to the map of our route: http://g.co/maps/3k6am It's not for the faint of heart, but the scenery will be amazing and at the end of the day we'll all feel like we were in a Mountain Dew commercial from the 70's.

OK everybody, here's some important info about Provophenia this weekend

Stuff you should know:
This year the rally is all about riding. There will be no Gymkhana, no raffle, no bands or movies. I hope everyone that comes will be prepared for some epic scooter riding adventure and will have a great time. There is a certain amount of risk in a ride like this. I hope that everyone who comes will be aware of the risks and take responsibility for him or herself. (We will have a support truck on the Saturday ride just in case.) At the end of the day though, I think the risks are no greater than the usual rally risks of a shorter ride where half of the riders are impaired. Please be responsible.

Stuff you should bring:
Jackets, gloves and extra layers because it might get cold up on Nebo.
First aid stuff just in case Sean rides with us.
Snacks
Swimming gear. (I hope it's warm enough to do the rope swings. If not, we'll at least have a new place to ride to next Summer.)
Food and gas money
Camping gear if you plan on camping Friday night.

Stuff we're going to do:
On Friday afternoon we will ride up Provo Canyon and past Sundance, but instead of riding the Alpine loop, we will head up to Cascade springs. From there we will head back down the way we came and end at Nunns Park, where we'll have a campfire and BBQ, hang out and tell stories, roast marshmallows, etc. (If anybody wants to, I'll lead you from Cascade Spings to Midway via dirt roads, then down the canyon from there.)

Saturday we will ride from Provo through Springville, Spanish Fork, and Payson, over Mount Nebo, and down into Nephi, then to Mona to Burraston ponds for rope swing, swimming adventures. From Mona we will take Goshen Canyon road to Goshen, then ride around West Mountain into Springville for dinner at the Trolley.
