Home

In 1981, David's parents split up and the five little ones left with their mom Lovisa and moved to Provo. They moved into the home of grandma and grandpa Johnson until they could get on their feet. The home that David and I own now is the same. This home was a sanctuary for many of Clem and Clara's children and grandchildren when life became tumultuous or when they just needed a place to crash.

Back then, Lovisa moved her five kids into the basement bedrooms. One of the rooms has a little nook in it that can fit a bed. This nook was where David had his bed as a child. It now houses the bunk bed of Ray-Ray and little D. Every night either David or I read to our kids in the same room where Lovisa used to gather her five and read to them. Ray-Ray, little D and Lou walk along the same sidewalks and pathways that their dad and his brothers and sisters walked. I like for them to make that connection and I like to think that this home is still a sanctuary.

The roots there are deep! How neat for your kids to experience what dad did! Love it.

I love this post. Chad grew up in this area and it's fun for him to share those memories with our kids too!
